Costa Rica held its presidential elections. According to preliminary results, Laura Fernández from the ruling 'Pueblo Soberano' party is in the lead with 53.1% of the vote. In second place is Álvaro Ramos from the Social Democratic Party of National Liberation (PLN) with 30% of the vote. The president of the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE), Eugenia Zamora, thanked citizens for their participation in the elections and called for respect for the decision. She also warned about the rise of political insults, which hinder the country's problem-solving. One of the key issues of the campaign was security and the rise of drug trafficking, to which Fernández promised to respond with decisive measures, including the possibility of declaring a state of emergency in conflict zones. The TSE will continue the official vote count in the coming hours to confirm the trend.
