The «Dinamo Limón» project, carried out by the Association of Performers and Artists of Costa Rica (AIE) and the Costa Rican Association of Composers and Authors (ACAM), has opened an important platform for local artists. This was stated with emotion and gratitude by the Uruguayan-Costa Rican musician Santiago Carvajal. According to him, this musical album captures a significant moment in the history of the Limón province, reflecting its variety of genres and styles and the unique worldview of its artists, which adds great value to Costa Rican music.
María Celeste Amaya, another member of the group, described the work on «Dinamo Limón» as a magical, enriching, and formative experience. «This single, which I wrote, simply wouldn't have been possible without the help of ACAM and AIE,» she said. These organizations «provide us with all the tools» to build, create, get it on digital platforms, and at the same time give us space to perform at festivals.
The «Dinamo Limón» album was launched as part of the Christmas market «Mercadito Navieño» at the Antigua Aduana in Barrio Escalante. The recording includes calypsos, ballads, hip hop, reggae, dancehall, rock, and author's songs. A concert to present the album took place on December 20th at 4 p.m. The album features thirteen songs by Mike Joseph, Carlos Hidalgo, María Celeste Amaya, Pablo Sequeira, Glenda Hargalson, Deiby Gutiérrez, Ainghel Neil, Santiago Carvajal, Nardo Acosta, Otty Cht, Randall Ortiz, Juan Pablo González, and Andyer Alpízar.
As the composer, who lives in the Puerto Viejo de Talamanca area, noted, the singles on the album have a deep cultural, musical, and lyrical background. The musical direction of the project was handled by maestro Mario Álvarez, and technical coordination and mastering were done by sound engineer Erick Román. The selection of the thirteen tracks was the result of a contest with over 80 musical submissions, three workshops held at different points in the province to select band members, and finally, the recording of the album at a studio in Guápiles. On December 20th, «Dinamo Limón» was also released on all streaming platforms.
